The Pros and Cons of Audio Sampling

In this article I am going to tell you what an audio sample is. I am also going to tell you some of the pro's and con's of using them.

Let me start by explaining what a sample is. Technically a sample is any piece of sound. A drum hit, a guitar strum, a bus going down the street and every other noise you can imagine, and some you can't. These are all samples. You can use them to piece together music of your own.

Audio Books On Itunes

However I; personally, separate sounds you have bought or recorded yourself, from what is typically belief of as sampling. Probably born from early hip-hop artists, the act of sampling is taking parts of other peoples songs and using them to build your own. There are any reasons to do this, the most obvious is that if you have no way to make your own songs, sampling lets you get colse to it. an additional one speculate is that all recordings have a unique character, depending on the instruments used, and where they were recorded. Sampling lets you get a piece of that character.

Near as I can tell, those are the pro's of sampling other peoples work. The cons of sampling; in my opinion, far outweighs the pro's. It's copyright infringement. If you want an idea of how that can cause you trouble look up Vanilla Ice, and The Verve. In the case of The Verve they had permission to use the sample, but the owner decided they had used too much.

This is why I distinguish in the middle of whatever you buy, or article yourself and sampling. I just call the first loops, and whatever taken from person else's song is a sample. For obvious reasons I don't ever use samples. Unless it's something in the communal domain, and even then I don't make it available for sale.

So now you know more about sampling and why you might want to do it, but well shouldn't. There is a whole world of sounds colse to you to explore, so why risk the inherent trouble of a copyright lawsuit.

Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4) Best

Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4) Overview

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation , loss, and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the date of two tribes hangs.

Now Bella has made her decision; a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life--first discovered in Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse--seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed...forever?

The astonishing, breathlessly anticipated conclusion to the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic.

Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4) Specifications

Great love stories thrive on sacrifice. Throughout The Twilight Saga (Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse), Stephenie Meyer has emulated great love stories--Romeo and Juliet, Wuthering Heights--with the fated, yet perpetually doomed love of Bella (the human girl) and Edward (the vampire who feeds on animals instead of humans). In Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final installment in the series, Bella’s story plays out in some unexpected ways. The ongoing conflicts that made this series so compelling--a human girl in love with a vampire, a werewolf in love with a human girl, the generations-long feud between werewolves and vampires--resolve pretty quickly, apparently so that Meyer could focus on Bella’s latest opportunity for self-sacrifice: giving her life for someone she loves even more than Edward. How close she comes to actually making that sacrifice is questionable, which is a big shift from the earlier books. Even though you knew Bella would make it through somehow, the threats to her life, and to her relationship with Edward, had previously always felt real. It’s as if Meyer was afraid of hurting her characters too much, which is unfortunate, because the pain Bella suffered at losing Edward in New Moon, and the pain Jacob suffered at losing Bella again and again, are the fire and the heart that drive the whole series. Diehard fans will stick with Bella, Edward, and Jacob for as many twists and turns as possible, but after most of the characters get what they want with little sacrifice, some readers may have a harder time caring what happens next. The second part of how to put music to iPod is getting the data onto your iPod. This is done with the use of a agenda called Itunes. Itunes is a software application that comes approved when you purchase your iPod. Basically you setup the agenda and build a library of songs in Itunes that is then really transferred to your iPod. The Itunes software allows for the easy manipulation and club of the music files on your computer and is the only agenda compatible with iPod data transfer. Associate your iPod to your computer via Usb, and once you have built your library of music in Itunes it's as simple as clicking and dragging those files from there into the detachable disk (Usb - iPod) icon in Itunes.

As you can see, how to put music to iPod is a very simple procedure. Once you are customary with the workings of Itunes and have a good source on the web for quickly getting the music you want, you can think of a song and be listening to it all within the space of a few minutes.

How To Put Music To iPod - Easy as 1-2-3Stephen Fry Kinetic Typography - Language Video Clips. Duration : 6.57 Mins.

UPDATE 24/05/2011:Thankyou to @hedgehoglet for the Russian Subtitles UPDATE 11/10/2010: Thanks to Stephen Fry for mentioning this video on his twitter account, rather exciting! Follow me at @RogersCreations on twitter Using the wonderful words of acclaimed writer, actor and allround know it all (I mean that in the best of ways) Stephen Fry I have created this kinetic typography animation. If you like what you hear you can download the rest of the audio file from Mr. Fry's website. stephenfry.com and then go to the audio and video section at the top of the page and look for the file entitled language. You can also find the file on iTunes by searching the name 'Stephen Fry's Podgrams'. I loved this particular essay on language and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to make my first kinetic typography video. I hope you like it and even if you dont I would like to heard what you think in the comments section. Also I know that at points the audio does not match the text so you do not have to write that. It is because I copied the transcript off of Stephen's website and it was not 100% exactly what he said and i did not notice until I was well underway. However these cases are few and far between. Just incase you were wondering the programs I used to make this were all by Adobe. Mostly After Effects but also Flash and Illustrator. Flash for the changing background colour transitions and illustrator for putting the words in to the shape of 'language' before loading it ...
